The Fear of Not Enough

Work Sheet-Lesson 4

When you think about not having enough “     Fill in the blank (with your “not enough”)   “  you will become hopeless and often think about giving up.  Most depression comes from worry/fear.

  1.  In what ways does worry have more questions than answers?

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

  1.  What questions does worry normally ask?

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

  1.  Why does worry often think about giving up?  _______________________________________When did worry last urge you to give up? ______________________________________ what happened?  Who do you think orchestrated this situation?

1  God    2 Satan  3 Your soul  4  Your spirit

Discuss this: __________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Worry will drain our faith, our mental abilities, our physical strengths and last but not least; our trust in God.  There will always be not enough of SOMETHING.  Why do you think God allows this to happen to His children?

______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

If worry doesn’t help then why do you think we do it?

1 Ancestral role models   2  it’s expected of good moral people  3 it gives you something to do other than trust God first.    What is the real reason?  _______________________________________________________

Fretting is obsessive worrying.  Can you see the pattern developing in you?  Do you want to do something about it?  You answer will determine your spiritual future.  Let me say this:  God will not condemn you for being a worrier…He will love you and you will always be the apple of His eye, even if you worry.  But you and I will be miserable, and tried up in knots, and lose hope quiet often.  It will be a roll a coaster of “what ifs” and guilt feelings of not trusting GOD.  God never intended this misery to be your life.  He desires we have less “what ifs” and more faith in Him.  If we can trust God for our eternal life why can’t we trust Him this life?

BE A DOER…NOT A __________________________!

____________   ____________ 1 Peter 5:7

Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully.

 __________   _________Psalm 37:7

7Be still and rest in the Lord; wait for Him and patiently lean yourself upon Him; fret not yourself because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked devices to pass.

______   ___   ___ Matt.25:23 His master said to him, Well done, you upright (honorable, admirable) and faithful servant! You have been faithful and trustworthy over a little; I will put you in charge of much. Enter into and share the joy (the delight, the blessedness) which your master enjoys.

 ______   __   _______   _____ Luke 10:41

But the Lord replied to her by saying, Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things;

 _______   ______   ______Matthew 6:25-27

25Therefore I tell you, stop being perpetually uneasy (anxious and worried) about your life, what you shall eat or what you shall drink; or about your body, what you shall put on. Is not life greater [in quality] than food, and the body [far above and more excellent] than clothing?

26Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father keeps feeding them. Are you not worth much more than they?

27And who of you by worrying and being anxious can add one unit of measure (cubit) to his stature or to the span of his life?

 _______   __  ________Matthew 6:34

34So do not worry or be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will have worries and anxieties of its own. Sufficient for each day is its own trouble.

                                          Hebrews 4:16

16Let us then fearlessly and confidently and boldly draw near to the throne of grace (the throne of God’s unmerited favor to us sinners), that we may receive mercy [for our failures] and find grace to help in good time for every need [appropriate help and well-timed help, coming just when we need it].

 _______   ____   ________1 Thessalonians 5:25

25Brethren, pray for us.

____   ____   __   ________Matt. 6:28-33 33But seek aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things taken together will be given you besides.

 Our Goal is _________________.

Exposing Fear:

Matt. 6:25-34 – How do we apply this scripture practical?

John 6: 1-13 – What does this scripture  say about the shortages we face?

John 15:7 – What promise does Jesus give in this passage to those who follow His commandments?  Do you fully understand this promise?

         Put on your thinking caps…

«Our Lord doesn’t condemn legitimate concern for

responsibilities, but wants us to focus on whose

presence?

IHow can you tell you are dismissing God’s presence?

IHow can you set boundaries between legitimate

       responsibilities and worrying?

«Our Lord doesn’t condemn us for worry, but He will

use situations along our journey to get us to “let God

    be enough”.

ICan you tell when worry has become fretting?

IHave you seen a pattern that draws you into fretting?

IWho is the author of this destructive emotion?

«Jesus/God is always there and He desire for us to ask

    for help.

IWhy do you think we don’t go to our Lord first?

IWhy is this big deal to the devil?

IWhy is being in the presence of God and trusting God

for whatever we are in need of important to our Lord

     God?
